WOODSTOCK FANSHAWE YOUTH SINGERS BIOGRAPHIES

Valerie Easton, Artistic Director

Singing has been Val’s joy since she was a wee girl, and it was her privilege to share that joy by teaching vocal music in the elementary system for 28 years. During that time, there were many choirs and musicals. Most importantly, she enjoyed using the Kodaly Method of Music Education and watching her students achieve music literacy while developing their beautiful singing voices. She has sung with the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers for about 27 years, and she is now pleased to be able give back to her community by conducting the Woodstock Fanshawe Youth Singers. 

Karen McSpadden, Accompanist

Karen McSpadden has been singing in the Norwich area all her life! Four years ago, she retired from her career as a vocal music teacher in Burgessville and continues to enjoy conducting the wayward choir at Norwich United Church. Despite having completed Gr 8 piano technique and theory while still an elementary student at Otterville P.S. she continues to enjoy playing the piano just for the fun of it and feels fortunate to bring these skills and experience to support her buddy Valerie Easton and the joyful singers of this year’s Woodstock Fanshawe Youth Singers.
